Hair removal before surgery may be beneficial
(Herald Times Reporter)- Q. I have a smelly pilonidal cyst that keeps coming back, and a very hairy butt. My general surgeon suggested I get laser treatments to get rid of the hair in between my cheeks before having surgery, because there is a high recurrence of these cysts even with surgery. I was reading that permanent hair removal also may prevent or even cure pilonidal cysts. Is it worth trying hair removal first?
